Two Timin Shiner  -  2010 AQHA stallion - Reference Sire

Two Timin Shiner is the result of a breeding program that put the top cutting sires together in this one-of-a-kind stallion. Peppy San Badger, Smart Little Lena, Geniune Doc, and Zan Parr Bar build the third generation on his papers, bred to daughters of Boon Bar, Jose Uno, Mr Diamond Dude, and Two Eyed Jack. But there is no need to go this far back in his pedigree to find names well known in the industry.
His sire, One Time Pepto, a son of Peptoboonsmal bred to a Smart Little Lena daughter, is the 2014 NRCHA #1 All Time Leading Sire and 2017 NCHA #5 Leading Sire, siring the earners of $15,000,000+ (as of 08/29/2018). One Time Pepto's breeding fee in 2018 is $8,500.
His dam, Sue C Shiner, a daughter of  Shining Spark out of a Zan Parr Bar daughter, showed successful in Reined Cow Horse and Team Roping and became the 2008 AQHA Reserve World Champion Senior Horse, Superior Heading & Heeling, and earned 710 AQHA points, LTE: $22,850.
Shiner  proved himself as very quick, athletic, and cowy in cutting training with Kenny and Dana Ingalls of Ingalls Cutting Horses, Wyoming (former Nebraska), and additional training with Ricky Nicolazzi of Pira's Cows and Horses in California. He was not shown due to a pasture accident which left one of his front pasterns susceptible to pressure.

Breeding to Shiner:

Frozen semen available, $1000

5-panel DNA tested negativ (he does not carry any of the diseases tested for)

The diseases tested for in the 5-panel are PSSM1, HERDA, GBED, HYPP, and MH.
This is a link to a somewhat shortended and understandable article for more information on these inherited diseases: Understanding 5-panel Testing

Disposition:

He is very relaxed, his trainers were impressed by his eagerness to please and trainability. Shiner is a very easy going, laid back yet athletic stallion with a mellow disposition.
His foals search closeness to humans, which makes them a pleasure to work with.

.. Here is a picture of Shiner with his broodmares. He keeps his herd together, however, when we check on him mounted on horses ourselves he will be alert, but he does not act aggressive.

We drive the herd, including stallion, on horseback to new pastures.

 2015 foal crop
Quite an impressive first foal crop Shiner had for us in 2015.
For the number crunchers among us, he did work well with statistics:
  • 50% of his foals were roan (one roan foal deceased due to pasture accident, not pictured).
  • We had seven fillies and eight stallions.
  • 100% healthy foals.
  • One mare was pregnant with twins, sadly both were still born. 2015 brought a lot of twins not only in horses but also in cows and sheep, many goats had triplets. This was probably due to an exceptional good summer in 2014 with a lot of moisture and grass during breeding season.
